Marlon Patrick Green, 35, who has no fixed address, was convicted on all counts following a two-day trial for an armed robbery at the Annapolis Professional Pharmacy earlier this year where he made off with nearly $3,000 in drugs, the Anne Arundel State's Attorney's Office announced.
At around 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, a 72-year-old employee at the pharmacy said that as she was closing up for the day, Green walked inside wearing a ski mask and black gloves while brandishing a silver handgun.
Green approached the woman, jumped over the counter and demanded that she take him to the back where the pharmacist was working. Green handed the pharmacist a black trash bag and ordered he fill it specifically with Promethazine with Codeine, Xanax bars, and Percocet.
He then left the area and the Annapolis Police Department launched an investigation that led them to a shopping center nearby.
Officers were able to find Green running behind the building toward an abandoned vehicle, where he was taken into custody along with the gloves, ski mask, and trash bag filled with more than $2,700 worth of the stolen drugs.
State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said that investigators believe that the stolen pills likely would have flooded the streets if Green had not been caught.
"(Green) showed no regard for the lives of two pharmacy workers in a dangerous exchange for prescription drugs," Leitess said. "These dangerous narcotics undoubtfully would have been distributed on the streets of our community."
He was found guilty of 15 counts, including:
- Felony armed robbery;
- First-degree assault;
- Second-degree assault;
- Weapons offenses;
- Reckless endangerment;
- Theft.
Green is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
